In the last 10 years, almost a million of our military’s servicemen and servicewomen have come from rural communities. As these veterans return home, they bring with them an opportunity to employ their passion, discipline, and sense of service to revitalize America’s small farms and rural communities.
The mission of the Farmer Veteran Group is to inspire veterans to feed America.
We train and invigorate a new generation of farmers and food leaders, and develop viable employment and meaningful careers through the collaboration of the farming and military communities.
Our goal is to lead a national effort connecting veterans to agriculture.
We firmly believe that veterans possess the unique skills, disciplines and character needed to strengthen rural communities and create healthy, sustainable food systems for all. History has shown that growing food, especially local production, offers purpose, opportunity, and physical and sound community, benefits.
